Kyle Hollasch is a Consulting Systems Engineer within Cisco’s Enterprise Optical Sales organization, with responsibility for marketing and strategic customer engagements involving DWDM and Packet Optical technologies.  He has been working with Cisco’s optical portfolio for 10 years across both service provider and enterprise markets.
 
Prior to joining Cisco, Kyle was a Member of Technical Staff at Lucent Technologies, performing research involving high speed data transmission over unshielded twisted pair cabling and leading the deployment of long haul DWDM systems.  Kyle has a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University, and a BS in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Since 2008, Andres Belloni has been a Product Manager for Optical Terrestrial Transmission, at Alcatel-Lucent. His main are of expertise is on system solutions for photonics networks with a prime focus on network management/OSS systems and data center interconnection arising from next-generation cloud computing services.

Prior to joining the Optical Terrestrial Transmission product group, Andres worked for the IP Product Division as a Product Manager/Strategist in the Network and Service Management product group.

He has been working for more than 15 years in Alcatel – Lucent. Andres has a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina and a Master in Business Administration from Queen’s University in Canada.

As manager of  IP development for NTT America, Shawn Morris coordinates the NTT Communications Global IP Network Development Testing staff and facilities, which are responsible for qualifying both hardware and software for the NTT Com Global IP Network. 
 
Mr. Morris has thirteen years of experience in the IP networking industry and previously served as a member of the IP engineering staff at Verio, which was acquired by NTT Communications in August of 2000.  Prior to joining Verio, he was a part of the networking and engineering staff at a Fortune 100 property and casualty insurer.

Jim Theodoras is Director of Technical Marketing at ADVA Optical Networking, where he actively promotes the company’s portfolio of Optical+Ethernet transport products and related technologies. Jim has over 20 years of industry experience in electronics and optics, spanning a wide range of diverse topics. 

Prior to ADVA Optical Networking, Jim was Senior Hardware Manager and Technical Leader at Cisco Systems, where he managed Ethernet switch development on the Catalyst series product.  At Cisco, Jim worked on optical multi-service, switching and transport products and related technologies, and was fortunate to participate in the “pluggable optics” revolution. Prior to acquisition by Cisco, Jim worked at Monterey Networks and was responsible for optics and 10G hardware development. Jim also worked at Alcatel Networks USA on DWDM long-haul transport systems, IMRA America on a wide range of research topics from automotive LIDAR to femtosecond fiber lasers and at Texas Instruments’ Defense unit.

Jim has a Masters in Electro-Optics from University of Texas at Dallas and was optical liaison editor for IEEE Communication Magazine from 2006-2010. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Ethernet Alliance and simultaneously chairs its Carrier Ethernet subcommittee. Jim holds 14 patents in the fields of telecommunications, is a frequent contributor to industry publications, presenter at international conferences and an active contributor to the Blogosphere.

Prior to NoaNet Mike worked for Oracle Corporation as Technical Manager for Utilities and Telecommunications for Western Region. Mr. Henson has been working in telecommunication and utilities since 1993. During this time Mike has consulted on data center interconnectivity, high capacity networking and next generation telecommunications networking. Mr. Henson studied Chemistry and Physics at the University of South Alabama.

Since joining Corning Cable Systems in 1979, Doug Coleman has held positions in materials engineering, process engineering, product engineering and applications engineering. He currently serves as a marketing manager responsible for technology and standards in the private networks market.

Coleman is active in the development of optical specifications in multiple industry organizations. He has served in various capacities in ICEA, TIA/EIA, IEC, IEEE, Fibre Channel Standards groups, SCTE, Telcordia and BICSI.

Coleman was recently named a Distinguished Associate, an honor which recognizes long-term and continuous exemplary performance and significant contributions to Corning Incorporated. In 1987, he was recognized as Corning Cable Systems Inventor of the Year and has received multiple Marketing Excellence awards. Coleman has been awarded nine domestic patents and 12 international patents, has published numerous technical articles, and made presentations at technical forums such as BICSI, ACUTA, 7x24, AFCOM and SCTE.

He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Rodney Casteel
Technical Manager, CommScope

 Rodney is a Technical Manager, for CommScope’s Enterprise division.  Located in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, he provides optical, copper, wireless and intelligent infrastructure design, engineering and technical support for CommScope’s Enterprise customers; as well as, high-level pre-sales technical consultation services for the CommScope sales team. In addition to his role within CommScope, Rodney is also serving his third term as Chair of the TIA Fiber Optics LAN Section where he works closely with the TIA staff and other manufacturers within the industry to develop tools and resources to assist end-users, consultants and engineers with the decision process, design phase, and deployment of fiber optic networks within the enterprise.  
 
Rodney joined CommScope in 2003 serving as a technical and applications specialist for copper and fiber network infrastructures. Prior to joining CommScope, he was a Master Instructor and Field Engineer for Lucent Technologies. He worked closely with Bell Labs scientists to develop products and processes for both outside plant and in-building network infrastructures. As a liaison between the labs and field teams, he also contributed to several technical books and journals.
 
Rodney is a 13 year BICSI member and holds the designations of Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD), Network Transport Specialist (NTS) and Outside Plant Specialist (OSP).  Prior to being elected as chair of the FOLS he served three terms as vice chair of the communications subcommittee. Rodney is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and seminars and a contributor to many industry trade publications and author of industry technical papers.
 
Rodney majored in science and computer information systems while attending the Emory University and Georgia State University educational systems.  He is very active in his local church and community



Adrian Young
Senior Customer Support Engineer, Fluke Networks





Adrian is currently the Senior Customer Support Engineer (Level III) within the Technical Assistance Center at Fluke Networks in Everett, Washington.  Young has been in the cabling industry for 24 years, starting at KRONE (UK) Technique LTD in 1986. He played a key role in the development of KRONE's first category 5 connector and the testing of cabling systems. Adrian moved to Fluke (UK) Ltd in 1996 as a Product Specialist with the introduction of the DSP-100 CableMeter and progressed to European Segment Manager in 1999 with the launch of the DSP-4000 CableAnalyzer. During this period he was an active member of the British Standards Expert Cabling Group and Cenelec's EN50173 Cabling Standard. In 2000 he spent a brief period at Optical Technology Training Ltd before moving the Fluke Networks (Seattle) in 2001. His current responsibilities includes product development, training, presenting, troubleshooting cabling systems and key holder for the Fluke Networks Knowledge Base for fiber and copper premise cabling.



Alfred Flores
Berk-Tek, a Nexans Company




Alfred Flores, RCDD, is the global pre-terminated optical products manager for Berk-Tek. Alfred has been with Berk-Tek for six years.  He previously held product management positions for DWDM optical architectures in Central and South Americas as well as engineering/design/training positions in the optical cabling industry. Alfred has over 15 years of experience in the telecommunications cabling industry and has presented at numerous industry forums including BICSI (Building Industry Consulting Service International) and IWC West (International Security Conference West).

Alfred graduated with a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of West Florida. Prior to joining Berk-Tek, Alfred held product marketing and engineering positions with Cisco, Corning Cable Systems, and Fiber Systems International.  He served ten years in the United States Navy as an officer and an aviator.

Matthew is Head of Network Marketing, responsible for communicating Ericsson's vision on IP & Broadband subjects (Ericsson's IP & Broadband organisation includes segments such as Optical & Microwave Transport, IP Routing, Mobile Core, and Broadband Access). Up until spring 2010 he was Head of Optical Product Marketing, responsible for all product and portfolio messaging and collateral, and related business analysis. Matthew led the Optical marketing activities of Ericsson and formerly Marconi since 2005, and he has played an important part in the development and delivery of the marketing of Ericsson’s Mobile Backhaul business solution. For almost a decade Matthew has been involved in shaping the marketing of Ericsson's (and Marconi prior to that) optical transport solutions towards service providers who have enterprise connectivity services at the heart of their businesses.

After graduation from Loughborough University in the U.K. Matthew joined Marconi in 2000 and held SDH, Ethernet, DXC and WDM marketing and product management roles. In his role as product line manager for Marconi’s data and optical edge portfolio, Matthew was primarily focused on Ethernet technology, but also covered a wide range of SDH edge equipment. Matthew drove the early introduction of NG-SDH technologies to the market-place, such as GFP, LCAS and Layer 2 functionality to support MEF-services, and helped design further Packet Transport product evolutions. For most of his career, Matthew has focused on strategies for optical network migration to carrier Ethernet technologies, and helping operators to realize the cost and revenue generating opportunities those strategies provide.

Matthew is currently based in San Jose, California, at Ericsson’s Silicon Valley campus.

Andre Girard joined EXFO in 1994. In addition to writing technical papers, reference books and guides, he is currently responsible for international standards as well as worldwide customer training, seminars and conference presentations.

He is Canada delegate at the ITU-T Standardization Sector and president of Canada National Committee for the IEC Technical Committee (TC 86) and International Convenor of Working Group 7 on Passive Components of Sub-Committee 86B on Passive Components and Interconnecting Devices. Dr. Girard is also a member of Engineering Committee TR-42 of the TIA and liaison officer for Canada to the US ANSI Technical Advisory Group (IEC TC 86). He has been the editor of TIA/ANSI-published standards.

Over the past thirty years, Dr. Girard has held various management, teaching and specialist positions—all related to optics—in military, university and private sectors.

André Girard holds a Ph.D. and M.Sc. in high-power lasers from the Quebec National Scientific Research Institute, a B.Sc. in physics from Laval University, as well as a post-doctorate fellowship at Laval University’s Centre of Optics, Photonics and Lasers.
